Hi.
I have a problem.

I have two identical NICs, one for LAN and one to the router.

And the LAN-NIC has 00-E0-4C-* as MAC, and the router-NIC has 00-E0-7D-* as MAC.

When i mark the router-NIC as the NIC to monitor, click apply, then ok and then leave the options. and then reopen the options, the LAN-NIC is monitored and this screws up the traffic statistics. Any one got an idea?

EDIT:

I can explain why this is the case: In version 1.1.2 the NICs are identified by their Name. Usually the second NIC has a different Name (i.e. the suffix "#2" added). Since both of your NICs have the same name, NetMeter will select the first from the list.

All these problems with identifying the NICs startet with Windows Vista. Since Vista the MAC address can no longer be used as unique identifier because on Vista several NICs can have the same MAC (as far as i could find out mainly virtual adapters for IPv6).

With version 1.0.0 and 1.1.0 i then switched over to using the NICs index for identification which turned out to be problematic, because the index can change during runtime or after rebooting Windows.

Therefore i switched over to using the NICs name for identification in version 1.1.2 since i thought the name should be unique.
Obviously there are exceptions from this rule...

I'll work on a solution for the next release. Until then i recommend you to go back to version 1.1.0 beta.

Regards,
