If in XP, you have multiple users and they get the error "can't save netmeter.ini" and "netmeter.tlg". Then all you have to do is (logon with admin rights) goto "program files\netmeter" and right click properties on netmeter.ini Select the security tab, click on "users" group, click Advanced and edit the group permissions to allow them to "write data", "Append Data", "Write Attributes" and "write extended attributes" (these last 2 may or may not be required). Do the same to "netmeter.tlg"

If you can't find these options (security tab) then click Start bar > Run > enter "gpedit.msc" a window will open. Select "Computer Configuration" > "Windows Settings" > "Security Settings" > "Local Policies" > "Security Options". Then find "Network Access: Sharing and security model" and  change its properties to classic. Use the Right-Click\Properties\Security tab with caution though. Note: only administrators can make changes so don't worry about the kids messing with it (unless you made them admins!!!)

I Hope this helps (makes sense)

Best Regards

Greg

I think that this only applies to XP Pro. I have this problem with a netbook with multiple users and XP Home. How do I solve it in this case.

Thanks,
Mac.

Thank you for advice, Ocelot. The solution that you offered worked for me (I did as described in the 1st paragraph). The problem is gone!
BTW, I'm using Windows XP Pro SP3.
