My experience with this beta is pretty much the same as with 1.1.3: upon launching NM, I get a dialog reading "Nothing to monitor"; when I try to adjust network interface settings, I have only two choices.
There is one additional weird result with this beta: in the setup dialog, all of the options (checkboxes) down the left side are initially visible, but when I attempted to select a new interface from the dropdown, all of the options under Window Properties disappeared completely. This happened the first time I ran the beta and I have not been able to reproduce it since. Just in case it's of interest, here's a screenshot.
Thank you for resuming work on NetMeter!

1.1.4 b4 - Vista 32 SP1
1.1.4 b4 - XP 32 SP3
I don't know if it was already mentionned but I have noticed that if settings (NetMeter.ini and NetMeter.tlg) are saved in the application folder, it works on XP.
But on vista, theses settings location is ignored and they are always saved in the Application Data folder of the local profil.
This problem is the same with release 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 b4

Hello and thanks for taking up the challenge once again. I have two laptops running Vista and I seem to have a slight problem on one of them which I think is down to problems accessing the log files. I'm not too worried about that one because it's just for looking up the TV listings and stuff, but it is not running any VPN software or anything fancy.
The machine I'm more concerned about is my work laptop which is running Vista Ultimate and has VMware and Juniper Networks "Network Connect" VPN. This has loads of network intefaces shown so if I select the default of all interfaces, Netmeter hogs about 33% of my CPU (Core 2 Duo T7500 2x 2.2GHz). If I just select one interface, it all goes back to normal. What I'd really like is to be able to select my Gigabit Ethernet interface and my wireless interface, but unfortunately it's just one or all interfaces.
Here's a couple of screenshots:

Thanks for working on the Vista problem. I'm using wireless broadband and was getting the "no download data" problem. NM 1.1.4 b4 has solved this problem for me, but I have noticed that now the upload data seems to be
twice
the value as reported by Windows (in dialup status).
The program detected the "Dialup (No duplicates)" interface (maybe from 1.1.3).
Laptop running Vista (basic) 32 SP1.

I've found out that by disabling all the other network connections (my motherboard has two onboard NICs and a wireless adapter) Netmeter would work just fine.
Also, unless I keep those network connections disabled, this beta keeps crashing or giving out errors left and right which, of course, makes it useless.

Hi ReadError, I was also one of the former complainers (
sporadisches Reset des tlg-files
and
Auto backup NetMeter.tlg log file
). (Note: I'm still talking about 1.1.4 beta 3, I've noticed the beta 4 just now.)
A couple of times I've got a "retry/ignore" (or similar) dialog about problems with files, the retry always helped. I supposed this is something about not being able to write into the
NetMeter.tlg
file and thought "fine, case closed". But today my machine somehow weirdly locked up and after restart the
NetMeter.tlg
file was zeroed
("Header of logfile "NetMeter.tlg" is invalid!" - the best moment to grab a backup file!)
What about the requested
NetMeter.tlg
backups? (Except they are already implemented in beta 4, I've to try and wait for another crash
)
Peter
P.S. the requested snapshot of interfaces (it is an Acer notebook):

Hi,
I'm using Windows Vista, suddenly NetMeter doesn't work. But with the Beta Build of the 28.01.09 it works very well.
It works with Windows 7 too, but only the Beta 1.1.4! Not with 1.1.3!
Thanks

Hi ReadError, just thought I'd let you know of my experiences with the beta build of NetMeter on my Vista Business (SP1) machine:
Until recently it worked okay for the most part--I had to have just the wireless adaptor selected as it seemed to hang if it was set to use all devices, and it would always switch back to all devices whenever I connected to a VPN, so I had to close it when I did that, but I could live with those quirks. I'm sorry to say it's stopped working altogether now. I think--although I can't be 100% certain--that its demise coincided with installing VMware's free Player on the machine. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing but nothing seems to work.
Hope this information helps.

Wors very well under Windows 7 Build 7057.
1. Install NetMeter 1.1.3
2. Replace Netmeter.exe trough NetMeter114Beta4.exe

Running Vista SP1 Home Premium - Dial-up connection - NetMeter Beta Build 1.1.4
NM monitors well, with the exception of the Meter info. As soon as I modify the prefs in the Graph options to show Total Downloads I loose the current U/D, and maximum values.
The logs show in the Totals option, but I cannot find where they are stored
Previous version is running A1 on my XP computer
Please keep working on it for Vista. I just cant live without it with my limited connection. Thanks

Acess violation at address 00404F7C in module 'NetMeter.exe'. Read of address 002D003D.
It occours when another NIC is enabled.. It was working ok with onboard Gbit Lan and with Hamachi interface, but when I've installed Technisat SkyStar2 it crashes and stops - remaining in the RAM as a zombie process.. Selecting desired NIC from drop down list in NetMeter gives nothing - always crashes.

I installed NetMeter Beta 1.1.4 on Windows 7 7057 and seems to work OK.
I had to manually choose the LAN adapter from the list the first time I started it and that's it, works fine.
Thank you for this wonderful program.
