I love the simplicity and functionality of NetMeter, yet frustratingly it does not monitor my bandwidth properly on my computer.  From reading around the forums, it's clear that a number of other people have this problem.  One common theme is that these problems all occur with Vista OS.  Another feature that a couple of other people have mentioned is how they connect to the internet via a 3G connection.

ReadError, could you please look into this?  I strongly suspect the problem has to do with Vista and either: connections via a USB modem, 3G/HSDPA connections, or both!

Here's a few other points that might help you:

My problem is that downloads are not monitored at all.  Uploads track perfectly fine, but not downloads.

My system runs the latest version of Vista with all the latest hardware drivers installed.  No funny firewalls to worry about either.  I use AVG as my anti-virus if that helps.  I'm on a Dell laptop.

My connection is via a USB modem on a 3G / HSDPA connection.

Might be worth mentioning that my network card is 802.11n, but I don't use WiFi for my connection and disabling my network cards does not help the situation.

If I specifically choose my 3G/HSDPA connection as the "network to monitor", a bubble pops up saying "Nothing to monitor!" and nothing (not even uploads) track.  If I select the default "All Interfaces", I'm back to my original problem of uploads tracking and downloads not tracking.

All other bandwidth monitoring programs (that I've tried) track my uploads and downloads fine.  Still, I have yet to find one with the same simplicity and functionality of NetMeter, and I'd be really grateful if you could fix this problem.

Hope this is enough information to help you find the root of this problem!

Cheers!

Having exactly the same problem with my Dell/Vista/USB 3G connection.   Only shows uploads.     Would so like to continue using NetMeter, but the current problem is definitely a big one!    Since 3G connections are so popular nowadays, i'm sure a fix will be on the way soon.

Same problem with Vista 32bit Home Premium and 3G USB modem. Works well on XP with the same modem...

Hope this is an easy fix for you!!!

Keep up the great work!

It looks very much like no development is being done on this software at the moment, which is a great pity Sad

So sadly I, and probably many others, will have to look elsewhere for 3G network monitoring.

Just upgraded to Vista SP1, hoping that would help things out.  Unfortunately, there's still no change and the bandwidth monitoring is only going one-way.
